This course fulfills the senior design requirement for Northwestern engineers, although it is actually a two-course sequence. The first course is coming up with an idea and designing a solution. The second course is actually implementing the design and dealing with the issues that arise.
I worked in a team of five with two electrical engineers and two computer engineers. We designed and built a wireless quizbowl device. Our design had the following features that make it superior to the typical quizbowl system:
- Wireless
- LCD to read the questions
- USB connectivity and built-in memory to load and store new questions
- PC software to create and load new and existing question packs
